Rusty Sierra Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Hi guys, I have a new project where I'm looking to show off a rough looking paint job and would like to know if there's a way to make a decal look as if it's cracked paint that was applied to the car a long time ago. Any tips would be extremely helpfull. Thanks!
TheRX7Project Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Just an idea but what about taking some tape after the decal has dried and "ripping" parts of the decal up. Also CA glue will do a number on a decal, but I don't know if you want it that far gone.
Rusty Sierra Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 something like this on the entire decal
CadillacPat Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Are you making the Decal yourself, or are you trying to get the cracked appearance on an existing Decal? CadillacPat
Rusty Sierra Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 it's an existing decal from an newer kit... I haven't applied it and it's still on the sheet
rustbucket82 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Vallejo paint line has a crackle medium, works great for stuff like this
southpier Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 great resource. sounds as if you are familiar with the product line. assume there are additional special effects coatings. i think figure painters & military modelers rely heavily on Vallejo, but do you think car modeling warrants investment in the line? is it compatible with Tamiya spray? i think i'm looking for justification to buy! are the sets a value? or better to buy individual jars? does it require a clear coat (again cross brand compatibility)? thanks
