Frank Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Hi, does anyone make the correct colour paint for Tweedy Pie, or do I have to try and mix my own.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) Seems if I remember correctly, Roth called the color "Burple", a metallic-lavender custom mix of blue and purple. The car doesn't look the same in any two photos, so picking a shot of it that looks to have the best overall color balance, something like this, would be the way to go for mixing your own. I got a google hit for "Ed Roth burple" on a listing for the May 1963 American Modeler magazine, so there may be an actual formula there. One article on the car claims over 11 MILLION copies of the kit were sold, so it's no wonder there would have been an article done on the paint when the car was fresh on the custom scene.
