Austin T Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Does anyone make the hood and piece that divides the grille on the 1970-1973 Cougar to convert the old AMT kit into those year cougars? I thought I saw it on ebay but can't find it again.
Edsel-Dan Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 67-70 are a Different body than the 71-73. AMT offered the Gen-1 Cougar 67-69, and MPC took over in 70 MPC offered the Only Cougar Convertible too the 70. AMT re-issued their Last Cougar the 69 in Original XR-7 form in the 78-9 Count-Down Series. Shortly after that it was re-issued by New Owner Matchbox?Lesney as a Street MAchine, ALL Stock parts, and Original Engine were lost, never to be seen again. The kit was re-issued a few times as an Eliminator, And Cobra Jet with a 302 and 428 Engines, then last as the "Resto-Rod" version. That one returned the Street Machine engine and parts to the box, but Not the original XR7 parts. MPC and AMT re-issued the Last MPC kit as "The Cat" 73 Cougar. It is in tact as the Original Annual, just in Black in an MPC box, and Gray in AMT The Engines and Chassis are from the 70 Annual. Depending on what you want, you may have to get a complete kit or body. You Can not put a 67-70 grill/bumper on the 73, They Don't fit!
Austin T Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 What about just converting the AMT 69 into a 70? I really just need the front part on the grille and the hood, I'm not trying to make a perfect representation of one. Thanks for the info though.
gtx6970 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 if all else fails builtups of the original MPC 1970 Cougar kit pop up on Feebay from time to time. . I picked up one a year + half or so ago to do a Eddie Schartman pro stocker and I think it was about $40 delivered
