twistedjester Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 this is my next project.i'll be working with a new kind of meadia . this is so much better then resign the detail is better, the thickness is the same from the front to the back.it is a computer printed body.the computer makes the body from the ground up in layers of plastic that are paper thin.this is the only and first 1/25 scale 69 camaro pro mod body from a company call "T D R".i have 2 months to build a replica of the 'PURE HELL 2' pro mod. "T D R"wants me to have it on display and entered at the heartland nationals 22nd annual model contest in overland park kansas.this show is put on by the "K.C.SLAMMERS" model club of witch i'm a member of.i will be posting photos of my progress.
Len Woodruff Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Keep us updated Ron. I would like to have TDR do some 1/25 scale parts so this will be interesting to watch!
1930fordpickup Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 This will be good to follow this for two reasons . 1. It is a printed body 2.It is from TDR.
Mooneyzs Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 This will be a great project. I picked up this body in 1/43rd scale a while back and I really want to pick this up in 1/16th scale. I have many of their parts in 1/16th scale and they make make some killer products. I look forward to progress on this build.
kendog261 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Looking forward to this build I just ordered some 1/12 engine parts from TDR hoping they are nice
twistedjester Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 this is how i received the body from T D R. it is so much better than resign it has a uniform thickness from front to back.its close to what 1 to 1 scale is in thickness. the body will need to be givin a super glue paint job to seal it so body work can be done(remember its printed in layers).i use krazy glue in a bottle with a purple top,the top is a brush.i get the from walmart.i would suggest that you do this first and not like i did.i found out the hard way,if you try to do any sanding on it with out doing the glue thing you will find that sand paper doesn't work.that being said body work and triming are just like working with a regular kit.be sure to coat the inside as way.this is so much better than resign, you don't have to grind away any unwanted thickness that usealy gets in the way for scratch building.i'm scratch building everything for this pro mod and the normal stress level that i have when i'm building a frame is not there. i can just build because the inside of the body is so good. i will have more to come.......
Alyn Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 This will be good to follow this for two reasons . 1. It is a printed body 2.It is from TDR. and 3. It is way cool I saw this body at the last Slammers meeting. Very impressive detail and uniform thickness (actually thin ness). The parts fit together very nicely as well. Looking forward to you progress and finished model at the Heartland this year.
1930fordpickup Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 When I had to paint printed stuff back in 1997 we used the thick primer with the filler in it. That way you can cover the layer /grain that it has.
twistedjester Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 i have 1st coat of primer on the body and hood.the frame is painted and clear coated.i'm starting to build small items and about ready to start detailing . it wont let me post photo's here if your on face book you can follow my progress on my page "twisted jester"
twistedjester Posted April 28, 2013 Author Posted April 28, 2013 well its been just 3 and 1/2 weeks since i started the "T D R" pro mod and i'm all ready assemabling and detailing.i can not say enuff about how great this 3D printed body is.eveything is so far ahead of the time pieriod that i have it's unbeleiveable. it's so easy working with this body. the thinness of it makes it so easy to work with.as long as i messure right the pieces fit.you don't have all the useual body work to do like working with resign
twistedjester Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 no ,no photos i have been trying but this page won't let me post any since i posted the pure hell photo.i don't understand why i can post photo other places but not here
