Having people lecture Mark Jones and Dave Thibodeau on how to build realistic/accurate models is a bit like having people lecture Beethoven on how to write symphonies.

With all due respect to the original poster & all involved isn't this a silly subject to be arguing over? I mean if you flood it with enough light a chalk board is shiny. A lot of people complain about IPMS members being rivet counters but isn't this along the same lines? As it has been said before, research your subject & replicate that level of shine. If you are building for a contest supply a picture of said subject to show why you went with the level of shine you did. If you choose to go with a different level of shine don't be surprised if someone is upset/calls you out over it. Conversely unless you are paying someone to build the model for you, you can NOT make them apply the level of shine you want. Remember it is YOUR pet peeve and you can't expect others to change what they do just to make you happy.

A reply that is reasonable , look at that, or how about, people can build their models as they see fit, right or wrong, its THEIR builds

9 pages is really just sFun_DeadHorse.gif at this point

Just curious, is it possible that the car was clear coated AFTER the race for its museum duty in which case BOTH Drew & Jay would be correct? Again goes back to what point in the cars' life you are replicating.

Joe, the Daytona 500 winning car is took straight from the track to the museum, crew member's are not allowed to touch that car, they cant even remove the engine, so the car that is there, is how it was on the race track, no one can do anything to the race winning car, well other then post race inspection , so only NASCAR officials touch the car,

I don't give a rip who they are or how they build their models. I build what I like, how I like, and if someone doesn't like it that's tough beans, because I do.

Is this still going? Good grief, guys.

The funniest part about it being 9 pages of beating a dead horse is that 7 of those pages aren't even beating on the horse that was brought to the water to begin with.

Seriously. I find that really funny. A little pathetic, but really funny. :D

You must not find it that pathetic or that funny because you just kept it going by posting a comment.

It's silly to be counting all these rivets. And WHO is the judge of what is accurate and what is not? The best judge of accuracy is the person that built the original car. Otherwise, there are a lot of self appointed experts, and most of them disagree.

Actually, it has moved farther down than that, then I would see that it'd been brought back up to the top again with a musical reference. If my brain has gone so soft as to confuse that as a bump when it's actually a reply, then you have my full apologies.

But hey, if you want to keep adding to the entertainment value of the thread, whether it be ironic or otherwise, please...do feel free.

Sadly it appears you forgot you posted this (above) only a few hours ago.

You must really love this thread, that is pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure we can count on YOU to keep it going on like the Energizer Bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least everyone else has actually contributed to the discussion.

Nope, Pat...haven't forgotten a thing. So what's all the exclamation points? Is that one for each time you thump your chest? I can't tell what you're doing there, exactly...but it seems kinda monkey-like and of course makes it that much more funny. :P

Seriously, though...this has become a "last word" thing, I think. You go ahead and take the last word, Pat. I have a feeling you may burst something if this keeps going.
