MAGNUM4342 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I just had an interesting and nice conversation with one of our newer members about big, bold typeface and the fact most folks take it as being yelled at. During our discussion I found that like alot of us, his eyesight is going to pot! To be able to read his own typeface he types big and means no ill will at all. The real problem for him and many others is being able to read the responses that come to him, since most folks here just use the pre-set font size. So I put it to you, the members and mods here, is there some way we can accommodate our members with failing eyesight? Maybe they could add a symbol or brief message to thier signature lines to let us know to help out by typing bigger? I know this is alot to ask, but as a community and family I think it's our responsibility to help our modeling friends and make the site a little more user friendly for those with occular difficulties. Is this possible? Is there a way to pull this off without a major upheaval? Maybe there's a program they could be directed to that will help with this? What do you guys think?
MAGNUM4342 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Okay, there's one suggestion. Not really presented in a very friendly or helpfull way but there it is. I'm sure if it were you Greg, you would at least appreciate the effort...then again given the cynical reply you just made maybe not.
MrObsessive Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) One of the reasons I post in larger bold type is so that I can see it! True one can zoom in their browser, but there are a number of folks that come on here who aren't exactly computer geeks and may not know that. Another reason I like the bold/colored font, is it kinda spruces up the joint a little bit than the standard black on white type. EDIT: BTW, I have my Windows Mail set up the same way. It automatically has the font type at 14 in bold, and in blue. That way, older people I know can read what I wrote them and it's easier on my 50+ year old eyes as well! Harry P. Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Not sure what the key combo on a PC is, but on a Mac you press the Apple key (Command) plus the "+" to make the text larger, the "-" key to make the text smaller. There's no need to type your posts in large type.
Darin Bastedo Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 you can also increase the size of the type on all pages by adjusting the screen resolution.
Harry P. Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 you can also increase the size of the type on all pages by adjusting the screen resolution. Right, but you have to remember that when you change your screen resolution, you're changing the size of everything you see on your screen, not just the type size on this website.
MAGNUM4342 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Okay, I can see this one going sideways real easy and the solutions are once again cut-and-dry, so i'm locking this one now before it goes off road.
