I get the MicroMark Catalogues because they show pics of so many tools that can be useful,

But,

MicroMark is way overpriced.

Everything you see in the catalogue can be purchased at Big Lots, Swap Meets, Car Shows and Flea Markets for far less than MicroMark's high retail.

But,

If you're someone who lives way out in the Boonies and don't have access to lots of stores, they are a great source.

Saves on gas.

I use MM for quality tools...IF you buy from the sales only, good deals will be had.

Yes to a point....cheap stuff will cost less, than quality...BUT quality goods will last longer and in the end give better value....Like HOK paint vs Color Place..you do get what you pay for!

I wouldn't portray the more expensive items from MicroMark as "quality"

I've received their catalogue for more than a decade so I've traced down the majority of their items to find them in better brands at other outlets.

As I said, you can find other sources of better quality, and cheaper prices.

Saying that "everything" MicroMark sells can be purchased elsewhere is a very broad statement and wholey untrue. While some of their stuff is rebranded items, many of which are made in China, their products do seem to be a bit better quality wise than their no-name counterparts available elsewhere. Further, MicroMark has a huge array of unique items NOT available anywhere else including car shows, swap meets, and flea markets. I agree however, that since they do have very attractive sales throughout the year there is no reason to pay their full asking price if you want something, just simply wait for the sales to pop up to place your orders. I'm a huge fan of MicroMark and do not think people should be discouraged from ordering from them simply because of the negative comments made here.

I didn't see anyone trying to discourage anyone else from buying from them

They were just stating opinion based off their own experiences!

If that does steer someone away from purchasing from the said company, maybe they should be looking at their own pricing to see what they are doing wrong!

But as stated, a very large part of what they offer can be found cheaper else where if you shop around. As for better quality? I have bought from them and bought at half the price locally at discount stores and found no difference and in some cases better quality.

But that is a normal thing to find when shopping any one business no matter who they are.

Yes John,

And,

If people compare prices for the same items from catalogue to catalogue they'll see MM's supposed sale prices are jacked up to compensate.

Just compare sale prices with those from the month before.

I've followed their offerings for many years.

Hobbylinc is a supply house I order from online.

Their sale prices on items like Tamiya Tape Refills are outstanding.

Buy the dispensers (per size of tape width),

From there on you need only buy the inexpensive refills.

I have only bought one dispenser , and didnt really use it, the last time I bought more Tamiya tape was on ebay, got the three size's for $10 shipped, havent seen that deal anymore :(

The dispensers keep the rolls clean, especially their edges.

I bought 10 rolls each of the 6mm, 10mm and 18mm

The 6mm was on sale for 97 cents a roll.
