Cato Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Anyone know if resin parts can be sent to model platers for chrome? Failing that-can Alclad be applied to resin in the normal manner with good adhesion?
High octane Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yes, and yes. You can send out your resin pieces to the platers and although I've not used Alclad, I have used Spaz-Stix on a resin bumper with good results.
Guest Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yes. I can personally vouch for LittleMotorKarCo. He does great work! Only thing is that your part/parts must be as close to perfect as possible. Any flaw in the resin will stick out like a sore thumb.

Considering that Modelhaus, arguably the "gold standard" of resin casters, has their bumpers, grilles, wheel covers/hubcaps, and small chrome parts plated by exactly the same process used on plastic kits, yes, resin parts can be plated in the very same manner, by any aftermarket plater.
