Walt Disney was a model train enthusiast. He designed this one himself (but probably had others build it).

And, not surprisingly, Richard Petty has a large collection of all kinds of diecast cars, which I've seen in the Petty Museum.

Two of the most notable movie directors are avid model builders. Ron Howard and Steven Speilberg. I saw a story that mentioned that some of the models displayed in the young boys bedroom in the movie Super 8 were built by Speilberg himself.

Michael Gross (from the 80's TV show Family Ties) is a model railroader. He's from the Chicago area originally, and has been a past celebrity guest at the iHobby (trade) shows. A very nice guy!

In fact, Amalgam will be building 1/8 models of Niki Lauda's Ferrari and James Hunt's McLaren from Howard's new F1 movie, "Rush."
