This is another older resin kit by Provence Moulage. While the casting wasn’t too bad as far as clean up, the rear was all jacked up, literally. The chassis should be flush with the body, not wedged as it is.

The exhaust pipes are also way too long.

I test fitted the body and chassis with the tires installed, still jacked up…

After trimming the chassis and the inside of the body to make more room for the rear tires, I realized I needed to shave the inside side walls off the tires as well as bevel the tops of them quite a bit to get them to fit into the body. I also built the wing supports to make sure they would fit after all the trimming. New exhaust pipes were fabricated from aluminum.

Mark...nice work on this so far. I love these 1/43 Provence Moulage kits. I have a couple I want to build after my funny car project. They are a blast to build.

I'm surprised to see how ill-fitting this kit is. That Provence Moulage I got from MCM was so nice. I know you'll do this one justice, though. It looks great so far!

What a crime to have to butcher the tires to fit. :(

Not really. They weren't that nice to begin with. It is a blessing that they are supposed to be fully covered by the skirts.

It seems like this model might be a victim of trying to use parts from previous models to make a different version, and/or nobody built one of the kits before selling them...

Mark... It's great to see the beginning of the decals going on this one. I know these small decals can be tricky. It's looking great.

Turns out the center part of the rear section decal does not fit, so I cut it apart and tried to get a better fit…, did a little touch up painting and moved on.

Thanks Chris.

The side decals fit as bad as the top one and I had to repaint some of the gold to make up for where the artwork was off (and discolored) and add some fine black pinstripes… Not a perfect match, but maybe if I don’t say where the repairs are no one else will see ‘em…?

Mark... this is really starting to take shape. It is looking great. Looks like you had a great match with the colors you had to touch up on the lower decal. I know you are right when saying if you don't mention to anyone they probably won't notice it. I have done that before on my builds just to see if anyone saw what I saw in my own builds and more times than not they won't see it unless you point it out. I had to do the same thing to one of my 1:43 scale builds with a decal that went over a snorkle area on my car because the decal didn't fit right. So i mixed some paint up to match and touched it up. Keep up the great work on this.

Yeah, it is a common issue to have to do minor touch up on these kits. I have found it is easier to touch up as I go than to try to find all the little cracks and problems later.

Fortunately on this one Tamiya gold was a good match, and some very old Testors purple was really close too.

Almost all the decals have been applied, (just the driver names have to be put on), and I still need to paint a few details before clear coating…
