livewire147 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 How do you guys get your painted walls of your model garage to look like plywood?
vypurr59 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Mine are photos, printed and glued to the inside walls, a little balsa wood to trim out and some blending paint.
southpier Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Midwest Products makes plywood as thin as 1/64", so you could use the real McCoy. http://www.midwestproducts.com/store/products/693542e7-e110-4a12-89d0-df140e159d4a/1/Birch_Plywood.aspx
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) In general, balsa is usually too coarse-grained to look really right if presented as wood in most scales. Birch, poplar, walnut and other very fine-grained woods, which are the basis of the plywoods that Joe Smythe (southpier) refers to are much better. Because of its close grain, I also prefer basswood to balsa for boards in most scales. Edited June 21, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
