Phil.. before you paint it... what era is the Caddy to be from? Figure it's a '32 so maybe around 1940 or so? Note that they didn't have radios in police cars or tow trucks yet. Nor did they have 7 digit phone numbers.

Yes that is a valid point,Perhaps i will consider it a modern recreation of a conversion that was done ion the thirties with anachronisms included.!

I still have to do some touch up work ,but it does look quite striking!I tell you what,I am definetly going to beef up the rear leaf springs! What with the brass tow boom and wood decking i have some serious weight back there! 001_zpsb75346d0.jpg

I used the headlights from the MPC Chrysler because I used the Caddy headlights on the Hubley Packard project.I made the headlight brackets out of thin Aluminum tubing. 001_zps9edbc699.jpg

Here it is posed with a Franklin Mint Cord. 003_zps94bfe17c.jpg

But would the plastic Caddy be able to tow the heavy metal Cord? :D

Looking at the size difference between the two, and seeing some of these classics in person, they were indeed huge and on truck like chassis. Could these have been classified early SUVs? Certainly a Suburban size! And no wonder they saw second lives as trucks!

Well since the diecast is so heavy it was only on the hook for a short period of time for the photo..I used the Cord because the Hubley Packard is 1/22 and almost all diecast including the engine and frame so i knew it would be way too heavy even for a brief period of time. The only other thirties model I have in plastic is the '29 Ford roadster which has too many modern touches to be appropriate. 2011_1017Spock0049.jpg

OOPS!Totally forgot about my 540 K Benz.! It is light enough that i could display it being towed but i would need an abnormally long display case.Said display cases would be expensive indeed.I do have one to display my custom lionel Denver and Rio grande double ended diesel ,but I am not sure I want to displace it. 002_zps2089e43b.jpg
