candy paints?

Im building a model for mu uncle and he wants candy apple red. The only true candy paint I know of for a reasobable price is the dulpicolor stuff. But that is only distributed in quarts... I just need enough for one model. Can anybody help me out? I really cant afford 50 dollars for basecoat, candycoat..

I believe Testors still has a candy red. You will need to prime and shoot with silver or gold as an underbase depending on what tone you want in the candy color. You will also need to clear over it to get the effect I think you may be looking for.

Scalefinishes has that color in two OZ bottles. I recommend the primer too.

The Testors is in a spray can, listed as Candy Transparent Red. It should not need clearcoated, but adding more coats will add depth to the color. Other options would be to use Tamiya Clear Red, either bottle acrylic or the spray lacquer.

I looked around on the site, and didnt see anything, I would assume its lacquer?
