Guys,

I need your help? I am lining up my next project. Using the Revell Peterbilt "Can do" wrecker..I will be scraping the tow body and using only the frame and cab..and doing a full aluminum custom build tri-axle dump body.

Being a Mack guy..I do believe this model to be a 379, would this be correct? And also, ditching the sleeper, would there be a day cab conversion kit availabe? Any help on this subject would be great appreciated. Thank you,

Kurt

Josh,

I really have no use for the body..selling it outright or through Ebay, would be the route I would take. Nice to see another modeler from the area..I am from the Northern Cambria area. If interested let me know..or if anyone else is..I am open. Thanks.

Guys...and especially Tim,

I need a refresher course on the model (Revell Cando Wrecker)

Tim, you have stated that this is indeed a 359, and not a 379 correct. In making this unit a triaxle dump..I will scrap the tow body/sleeper and cab..where would you reccomend getting a 359 day cab? I see that STS sells them? What would you recommend?

Now for the engine...Is it a CAT and or is it a Cummins? I have heard debate on both. And what model would it be?

Tim, I would also be looking for engine and framing decals..any suggestions, since a Peterbilt dealer ship is not near.

Anyone else have a suggestions on this piece. I started the removing of chrome this weekend on tons of pieces...

Thank you to all as always. This forum is just really fun to belong and contribute to. I'll post pictures as progress is made..and Tim, I'll send you pictures as well.

The cab that STS sells is a direct fit for the Revell kits. Otherwise you would have to cut out the backwall and make a new wall and window opening.. or use an AMT 359 cab, cut it up and use the AMT backwall.

Easiest route would be Spaulding's cab.

The frame decals for a 359 would be pretty simple, "do not weld or drill" type logos found in several kits including the Can-Do. The multi-decal warning stickers didn't appear until around '00.

If you're looking for modern logos, go to

Thank you... to Dave and Tim....

This gets me rolling into the right direction.

What model kit, or aftemarket supplier would you think might carry a CAT diesel engine such as the 3406? STS?

Kurt,

STS caries a Hendrix Caterpillar 3406 for $12.50. I've never used it, but it looks ok. Looks cab deceiving though. You'll need to scratch pullies & belts.

Kurt,

Auslowe make a 3406 Cat engine. It has the pulleys and mechanical fuel injection system. There is no cooling fan. I dont know the web address for Auslowe, but I bought 2 from KFS. I also bought a Hendrix 3406 from STS. This looks a good unit but the Auslowe one appears to have more parts and detail.

Either way enjoy the project.

Best Regards
