Fabrux Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I'm inspired by the T-5R Martini Racing Mustang to build an early Mustang with an Indy-spec Ford DOHC V8 under the hood: I know most Indy kits are 1:20 scale but I'm wondering if there are any 1:25 scale kits with a Ford engine that would serve as a good donor?
Mike Kucaba Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 There were a couple. The old IMC/Testors lotus kit had one and so did the kit that was in the 3 car Indy winners set by MPC.
Art Anderson Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 There have been three Ford 255cid Indianapolis DOHC engines kitted: IMC (1965-66) in their Lotus 38 Indy car kit AMT (1965) in their kit of the Lotus 29/34 Powered By Ford Indy car MPC (1969) in their 1968 Gurney All American Racers "Olsonite Eagle" kit. All of these were done in 1/25 scale, the MPC is the best of the lot by a long way. Art
Fabrux Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for that Olsonite Eagle kit.
Art Anderson Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for that Olsonite Eagle kit. The Olsonite Eagle kit was reissued about 10 years ago or so by AMT/Ertl in their "Buyer's Choice" series of kits. Art
