MsDano85gt Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Dan why do i get the feeling that you are shooting to finish ALL of your Mustangs at the same time? LOL You will end up with 30 Mustangs finished pretty soon!there probly will be close to 30 or better for sure when they start getting finished anyone have suggestions to tone down chrome on wheels?trx's can be very shiney when polished up but most cars you see the aluminum has a duller or flat sheen to them....
jrherald420 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Dullcote Yup, or semi gloss. I use Model Masters right over the chrome and have never had a problem. Just be sure to wash the parts first.
MsDano85gt Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Thank you Freakshow, and James, does hobby lobby carry dullcote? i think you can get in spray from for sure, think i have seen it in paint jars as well??
jrherald420 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Yes both jars and cans. I use the Testors brand dullcote that is NOT enamel in the spray can. The label looks just like the enamel cans but it is a lacquer. 20140501_204223 by jrherald420, on Flickr Edited May 2, 2014 by jrherald420
freakshow12 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I use that as well. Have had good luck with both though. Just prefer the faster work time of the lacquer

MsDano85gt Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 may need to change red wire size a bit smaller diameater for piping but it gives ya'll the idea of what i'm going for as close to a 1:1 as possible even the 1:18 scale example i have is not completely correct that i know of....... the pace car zebra upolstery turned out way better than i had expected!! as far as the mesh for the halo seat tops that will be experimental not sure if i like how it came out going to find some leftover tutu material my wife used to make a tutu and try that out as well..... coming along tho.....
ERIK88 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Yes that is true ! He is a mustang hoarder, leave some for us dano! Or at least trade me a anniversary mustang lol jk nice build! Can't wait to see final results!
MsDano85gt Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 heres the "black" cobra stuck on using the orange cobra or the yellow full striping on the body if the decals cooperate would look very sharp yellow on black? other one 83 gt will probly go with the silver decals will most likely use the "gt" badges that are black on my 85/ 86 projects..... 83 body has the 87 ground effects and gt spoiler.....
Ford guy Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Great looking black Cobra Daniel. If you think the decals are too old, try giving them a coat of clear lacquer. You might have to wait a few days before you use them. but they shouldn't fall apart when you soak them in water. I can't guarantee it will work, but it has always worked for me.
