freakshow12 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 (edited) I hear ya. I own 8 mustangs at the moment and have let a few slip away. I have a soft spot for 85s. Currently have 2 5.0 capris. 84 also had the 85 up style spoiler. Some early 84s had the old 3 pc unit Edited September 12, 2013 by freakshow12
MsDano85gt Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 What are you going to do about the belt line trim? Specific to 85/6 the 87-93' mustang kits by amt/ mpc have a more rounded smoother belt moulding that much closer resembles the 85-86 mouldings as compared to the mpc 79-84 kits which all have the 79- 82ish looking rub strips..... the other positive note is the newer body has the 5.0 scripts/ emblems already on the body! as far as the "gt" thats moulded into the rub strips just behind the doors i'm ok without that on my version in 1/25 scale will not have that (i'm not skilled enough to engrave something that small and detailed) maybe use some of the small "gt" decals from the 83-84 mustang kits.....??
MsDano85gt Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 You're doing good so far Daniel. Sure wish they'd re-issue this kit or tool up a new one! Can't wait to see more! hopeing the foxbody cars are on the to do list in the near future for round 2 as well they have been bringing back some awsome kits like the superstones ford truck! great move keep em coming!! have to snap some pictures for my "foxbody frenzy " post i've made some progress especially on interiors, and my "MAD" resins 79' notchback with a cobra front nose on it!!
MsDano85gt Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 will be hopeing to post some pics soon have made some progress one body is nearly ready for primer and some color, the interior conversions are coming along as well making close to 85/86 gt bucket seats with red piping accents, going to try my hand at seatbelts as well......
MsDano85gt Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 heres the bodys up to date starting from the rough in stages on up to basically complete ready for primer with the marker lights carved out of the bumper
MsDano85gt Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 i'm happy with the end results thus far, 1 marker light in front bumper is painted orange for photo purpose other is painted silver to indicate where they are at.....
MsDano85gt Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 I want to say GMP's 1:18 scale interior depicting 85/ 86 GT mustangs is close, but still not perfect. but it is the best reference i have to go off from...... on the rear seats i had to cut the bottom seat down the center like the top halfs to get the materials to line up how they should..... now i will have to fill in the transmission half round on the side with styrene, and eventually make a new half round opening for the driveshaft hump in the center of the car..... the front seat turned out pretty well need to touch up paint now i cut off the original (2) headrest mounts for the made from styrene center single bar like the reall 1:1 seats have altho i think i have it setting up too high may have to bring it back down, or set the headrest directly ontop of the seat and see how that looks too..... defenetely may need to get some smaller diameter red wire!! anyone have multiple sizes of red wire in their arsenal?? not much update just interior work rough first try to get it as close to real as i can get Happy modeling everyone Enjoy the small updates on interior....
freakshow12 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 You are doing a nice job on these. I would say the piping may be a little big and yes the headrests should just sit on the seats. If you need reference pics of something I can snap pics of anything on the 5 sets of these seats I have kicking around
MsDano85gt Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 You are doing a nice job on these. I would say the piping may be a little big and yes the headrests should just sit on the seats. If you need reference pics of something I can snap pics of anything on the 5 sets of these seats I have kicking around pics of the real seats would be great references especially for proper coloring as close as i can get anyways...... i remeber my 85 gt the headrest was rather low on the seat but i remeber being able to pull up on it to adjust height..... Tall Folks ya know any pictures are appreciated
Mister 4x4 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Looks like quite the project and a lot of work. I'm glad my '82 was covered by the '79 Turbo Cobra without too much modification. On first glance, to me it would be a lot easier to modify the '84 20th Anniversary kit... but not having owned an '85 or '86, I can see where it would look totally different to you - I now own a '71 Mach 1, and the kits out there aren't quite what they should be (most have '73 bumpers with '71 grilles - which are two very different animals). Hang in there, keep at it - can't wait to see it all done up.
MsDano85gt Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 thanks Erik hope to get the almost done body some light regatta blue paint on it in the new year here sometime.....
