old-hermit Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) Had to call it something and as much as I've cut on this one the title fits. It was an experiment to see if I could chop the top on a 1/8th scale, resin 1943 Willys pick up cab but has taken on a mind of it's own. So far I have chopped the top by 1/2 inch, sectioned the body in height by 1/4 inch, shortened the body in length by 1/4 inch and narrowed the body by 1/2 inch. Also narrowed the hood to match the new body proportions. Don't know where it's going from here but it will definately be one of a kind. Edited November 2, 2007 by old-hermit
old-hermit Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 Not much progress to report, but I'm working on it.
old-hermit Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 I've been working on the engine for this build and wanted to keep it "one of a kind". This is what I came up with, a one off antique airplane style inline six. It's rough but getting there.
dub Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Me likes!!! I really like the fact that it's air-cooled. That means no radiator! Grilles look so much better when you can see through them.
old-hermit Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Got a little more done, just waiting on some Webers so I can build an intake manifold.
deucebuilder Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Way to go hermit, the pick up looks cool.
old-hermit Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 I took a Lindberg T frame and Z'ed it (not an easy task) stuck some bigs & littles with spun aluminum disk caps on it and did a mock up. She is now called "Po White Trash" and will be trimmed out in Boneville XXO trim.
old-hermit Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Got some Webers and did a mock up on the six. I'll finish them with metalizers and linkages.
Modelcarjedi Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Got some Webers and did a mock up on the six. I'll finish them with metalizers and linkages. SWEET!!!! keith
Junkman Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 This is really nice. The entire whip I mean. Can you give a short description of what the engine is made of?
old-hermit Posted February 17, 2008 Author Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) Can you give a short description of what the engine is made of? The cylinders, heads, valve covers and timing cover are from an old Corvair trike kit Junkman. I carved the block from resin and the side panels are resin. The carbs & tubes are resin and the rest is from the parts box. The pushrods are cut down 4 penny finish nails. It was an experiment just to see if I could do something different with junkyard parts. In fact this whole build has been an experiment just to do something completely off the wall. Edited February 17, 2008 by old-hermit
