Modelbuilder Mark Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Update 11.09.2013 Part 2 - 99% complete Hey everyone, just finished up on this thing (mostly). Another view: Bonnet open: Rear quarter panel: Back: And compared to the real one: I will work on getting some better comparison and close up shots. The last 1% is body line painting and obviously the rear license plate. I'm holding off on that to make a custom one that matches the real one. Nice job! THere is a website you can use to make your custom plates, I think this is the link. http://acme.com/licensemaker/
heptoman Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Remember me? Remember how dissatisfied with this paint job I was? Starting over! Paint is stripped, body wet-sanded, reassembling of parts.
ferrari87 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Can't wait to see how it turns out round 2!
Toast Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Cool! I just read through your original write up. Hope round two turns out like the original. If not, you know what they say! ;-)
heptoman Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Justin - me too. We'll see. I think I've fixed my painting technique. Ryan - not being sarcastic...what do they say???
heptoman Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 Alright everyone, update: although no pics. I tried reattaching the front bumper last night and it didn't go very well at all, so I think I'm going to just order replacement parts. The body is now in a pretty sore shape. So this one is going to have to be shelved for a while. Need to focus on the GTO and the Mustang.
Toast Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Bummer! Can't say I've never done that though so I feel ya. And from experience Tamiya is great at getting you the parts you order. You do have to order the whole tree a part comes on though so if you need a new bumper too you'll get some extra parts for the spare parts bin, but they're pricing is very reasonable. Good thing you've got a couple of other builds to keep busy with in the meantime.
