I don't know if Magic Mart is just a regional thing but, we have them in eastern Kentucky. I was in my closest location today and decided to see what kits they had. When I got to the model rack, I saw a manager and another employee with almost all the kits off the shelf and in the floor. The manager looked at me and told me they were reducing the price of all kits.

Now, knowing that a majority of non-specialty stores don't carry models, my first thought was, "Oh great, not another store getting rid of kits. So, I decided to ask the manager if they were trying to clear out the inventory because they were going to stop selling them. To my surprise, he answered, "Nope, just marking down the prices."

I find that this was a very nice gesture from this company. Not only are they keeping kits, but, they are making them more affordable. Most of them were $12.99-$14.99. And with the holidays coming up, along with colder weather, I thought this was really considerate. It gets models closer to the prices they were when I was growing up, and makes it nice for those cold winter days.

I know that they don't have the world's hugest display, and that they probably aren't national. It is still something worthy of honorable mention in these times.

Hadn't heard of this store, so, out of curiosity, checked its web site and locations. There are actually about 20 of them, mostly in southern WV and western VA, with 3 in eastern KY, and 1 in NC. I do pass by a couple of them on trips to NC, so will try to remember and check out next trip. Thanks.

Ken, here in da lan dat time forgot, Richmond Va. we don't have any thing close to what you have . We have a Hobby lobby, provided you can fight the traffic out in the FAAAAAAARRR west end . it's akin to trying to switching lanes most times on I-40-trying to get off I-495 in D C or trying to get onto the I-5 in Los Angles .

Johnny, if you are coming down US 23S, then this one is at the Coal Run area (AKA Pikeville's north end) of Pike County. Bob Evan's and Reno's will be on the right and Autozone will be on the left. Turn left at the light and it's about a 1/4 mile on the side road.

Thanks, Ken. Haven't been to Pikeville in a while. Usually follow 64 E and 77 S, so thinking more like Beckley, WV and Galax, VA. Hoping to get out that way again this Fall.
