crazyrichard Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 thnx guys :) well i decided to go even more extreme , this was something i had planned for a while , kind of based of that carls ratrod (stance wise) i would want to build a milder version one day though .. had to glue the doors in and make one whole body , just because of all the alingnment and the fact the cassis and floor will take lots of messurements and dryfitting .. because i glued in the doors i decided to cut the door hinges and glue them on and give them a steel pin for extra detail then just set some wheels beside and looked at it then decided to make the whole lower line along the bottom the same as the rear so i cut of a piece of the sides down below i will make a tiny lip in there later on placed the body on a small box lid and dryfitted , the tyres sit just under the window line exactly what i wanted this is kind of the one that gave me the idea a while back , not going to build it exactly like this just used it as a guideline for the stance .. i do notice my body is longer behind the rear window ? but i dont care i like the looks even though its maybe not 100% like the real deal .. idea for the rear section of the chassis lots to do
vintagedragfan Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 love the progress Richard, I know it will look awesome when its done

crazyrichard Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 THIS IS GOING TO BE SWEET ,YOU ARE BUILDING THE TYPE OF CARS THAT I LOVE , KEEP IT UP DUDE! i know we have the same taste , always love your builds
crazyrichard Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 thnx i tried these rims but in the end i think i will stick with the steelies , going to use this v8 instead of the 6 cilinder of the kit ... hmmmmmm ??? bevers chewing ?? aah better , later on i will make wooden crossmembers (thin ones) with a curve like the rood used to be
Dinky Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Very nice Richard, good progress! Did you decide the color yet?
Modelbuilder Mark Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Glad to see that updates on this one.
crazyrichard Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) thnx guys and well color .. no not really .. i'm very tempted to keep it a bit rough .. but some shine would also look good .....still not sure metallic green could be cool Edited September 23, 2013 by crazyrichard
tooltas Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 yes it would be cool to see I did a 26 t that way call ''ganggreen'' how but a flathead of the 50's ford f100 2/1 kit its got hemi heads
Dinky Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Go for green My next one will be candy green.
blazefox Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Since the cowl is separate peice it has less alinment issues. Than a whole body thats one piece
Dinky Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Btw good idea to stick with the steelies, they look much better on this model than the spokes.
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 thnx guys and well i do have a flathead lying here , needs some cleaning up but that would also look cool
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) this kit does not have separate doorpanels instead they casted some weird stuff on the thin door .. so using old plastic house window blinds i strated making interiour panels the old situation this doors and body with no detail first doorpanel and kickpanel the other side , now i have to make rear panels , also gives extra stiffness to the body nice line maybe better suited , the flathead v8 ?? if i use this i will take of the high thing and make a cool distributer , carbs with stacks , open headers and maybe a nicer fan Edited September 24, 2013 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 i already got everything of the flathead , going to rebuild that completly (nicer) now its a nice mock-up block started my first z chassis ever lol , never needed to really z a frame but on this one .. it has to be done .. wanted to do it for a while also so .... the old situation flat chassis from front to back mock up after a z job in rough shape already made 2 new cross supports als sanded the chassis roughly , will get way more detail loose table mock up
crazyrichard Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 started to make a new floor out of real thin plastic from old window blinds , the doorpanels are also made from the same material. rear wall tried a buch of different bucket seats and then tried a bench , shortened the rear seat rest .. i really like the look .. lets say the extreme chop and channeling combined with the comfort of a bench and then you can take your girl right beside you lol of course if i use the bench i will make a round top at the shortened rest .. opinions welcome
TFchronos Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Awesome building so far, it's gonna be nice when it's done. Keep it up!
crazyrichard Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 well its starting to become more sratchbuild every time i work on it ... desided to bag the rear , i have loads of stuff in partsboxes i got from a fellow builder who quit building due to health issues (paint and glue and stuff) most stuff i just dont know what it is and where from , i just layed stuff on the table i thought i could use and started building first some speedholes and cut something to pieces to use as a axle support and drill holes in the side of the chassis where it will pivit put them in with the axle on testfit closed the supports from the arched piece to the straight that runs trough the chassis , the middle is open , driveshaft will sit there took 4 airoplaine wheels and whow so simple and ... airbags used some more stuff i dont know what it was and cut it to make topmounts on the bags , i will also add airlines , a airtank .. and oh schocks need to be made beside the bags never did this but this forum gives me so much inspiration and i wanted to start this winter with more detail in chassis so why not start with this one
Dinky Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Very nice progress, love the details! Btw there is a guy near your place that sells the plastic plates in all kind of thickness.
Speedfreak Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Great work, maybe someday I'll be able to do these kinds of mods, thanks for posting. Hello from Kansas!
