I spotted this in Salzburg, Austria this weekend...

252 made in total. Back in the 50's this car almost drove BMW into the ground because it was way too expensive at 10.000 dollars (equivalent to a Ferrari), but today it is largely sought after, even with a price tag north of half a million dollars (Bernie Ecclestone sold his for a million some time ago)... Since most of these cars were exported to the U.S., which was the original target market, they are actually quite rare in Europe. I never thought I'd see one up close, much less a regular ride!

I've always thought they were beautiful cars, even though I'd never be able to afford one. The good news is, you can own a smaller version.

Of course, I'm aware of the kit... I've been on the lookout for one for some time now... Even if it is long out of production, it is still relatively available, I've just been waiting for the right price to come along
