Fabrux Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I'm looking to build an AMT IH Scout II with a manual transmission. My research suggests that the 4-speed transmission in one of these trucks would bu a T19 and I'm hoping the vast knowledge base here can identify where I might find one. Otherwise I'll just stick in a Muncie...
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 The stock transmission in the Revell '50 ford pickup, cut off of the Ford bellhousing, could be a starting point to make up a fairly convincing look-alike, as it has a bolt-on top-cover and a bulge in the left side of the main case that could be cut down to look like the T19. POSSIBLE kit sources for a more-correct appearing T19 MIGHT be the MPC CJ-5/M38A1 Jeep (which would possibly have the T19-predecessor, similar-looking T98) , or a Ford pickup from '68 thru '86, though I have none on the shelf to look at. Getting the right tail-shaft housing or transfer case for the IH application might take some scratchbuilding. A bellhousing will most likely have to be modified from something else.
Fabrux Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) The transmission in the AMT 69-72 Blazer looks mighty close, too. The Monogram 1980 F-150 kit looks to have a T-5, which is totally wrong for a full-size truck. Monogram CJ-7 has Muncie by the looks of things, and the MPC WWII Jeep has a transmission-shaped blob hanging off the engine... Edited September 19, 2013 by kataranga
