sports850 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I reccntly found a Glue Bomb build of an Italeri Scania T 143 M500 and fell in love with the engine , whoever built it didn't do too bad a job with the exception of the paint on some panels being super thick and with heavy brushmarks (I'm thinking it was done by a kid) and instantly thought hot rod rig . Unfortunately it's missing one plenum chamber for the turbo inlet so I'll scratch both sides so they look equal . Most of the body panels are there and most unpainted , plus the glass sprue looks untouched so if anyone is after anything from this let me know and I'll post it off . I went looking at Scale Automobilia (local specialist model shop , Aussie guy's know who I'm talking about) searching for a resin vintage truck cab but couldn't find anything I liked so came away with a Lindberg '34 Ford custom pickup kit for the cab etc . Here's the first mockup to get an idea of where to go with it , and the engine that started the thought process Chassis Z'd to bring it down to a decent length and height , plus front end moved forward to a more hot rod style , radius arms to be fabricated yet (ok , it mightn't be the safest style of front end for a semi but it looks cool ) And front on using an old Peterbilt grille I had , Next is to brace the chassis more , strip and repaint the cab (since the Tamiya rattle can ran out half way through and sprayed splotchy , and I don't think gloss red suits it now) , fit air tanks at the sides and a big round fuel tank behind the cab then the turntable at the rear . The plan is to build a short trailer to go behind it to carry the Glue Bomb Peterbilt I'm turning into salt racer truck that I'm playing around with . I know , I have odd thoughts when looking at Glue Bombs .
kilrathy10 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) Pretty cool idea for a hot rod....Looks like, if you left it like it is, a nice looking rat rod, already.... Edited October 8, 2013 by kilrathy10
sports850 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 Yeah , thinking of going more Rat Rod look for it now , was originally going to go shiny but I think the Rat look would suit it better .
