peekay Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I can get lacquers and enamels off but nothing I've tried works on Tamiya's grey and white Fine Surface Primers.Anybody done this successfully?
Mike Kucaba Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Someone asked about this very same thing on AF. I suggest Denatured Alcohol. Don't soak, just dampen a cloth and have at it. Hope it's available in your neck of the woods.
Pete J. Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Brake fluid! Always works on Tamiya paints. Dispose of and handle with care.
ScaleDale Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Those are excellent primers for the reason that is vexing you at this point. Go with the alcohol thing. Get it from the hardware store in the paint section. Handle with extreme care. It will go kablooie on you if you give it the chance. Dale
peekay Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Thanks very much guys. OK I'll try the denatured alcohol. (And look up "kablooie"!)Pete, I don't use brake fluid any more because it makes the plastic brittle. Delicate areas can then be easily broken.

Mike Kucaba Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Denatured alcohol is a chemical that should be on most everyone's bench. it's a great plastic prep, cleaner for resin, even a thinner for some acrylics.
