Do trikes "hop" around corners?

Specifically, trikes with chain drive and a simple solid bar for a rear axle. Is there such a thing as a chain drive IRS that allows the inside and outside wheels to rotate at different speeds in turns?

Do you mean pedal trikes? 'Cause I'd like to see a pedal trike with an IRS with an open differential if there was one.

I would say that it varies with wheel tread, speed, and traction. Wider wheel tread, slower speeds, and more traction (wide tires) will produce more hop. A go cart at speed has little hop, but will be almost impossible to push with the front wheels turned. A go cart with thin bike like tires would be much easier to push through a turn.

As for a chain driven IRS, I would check out ATVs.

Whoa. That's neat. It's all for a model idea that has been in my head for a while. I've seen photos of small sand rails with motorcycle engines and chain-driven I.R.S., but no diff (it's in sand. No wheel hop there).

All of them that I know of have a differential. Having said that I will tell you that they can steer hard because you can't lean like a two wheeler.

This is an old Harley Servacar setup, used from the thirtys until 1973.
