ChrisBcritter Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) AMT 1/43 scale '36 Ford. Here's mine, originally molded in yellow: Edited October 30, 2013 by ChrisBcritter
hotrod59f100 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Cool is it rare? I don't know much about this scale
ToyLvr Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I agree with Chris - definitely the AMT 1/43rd. There were several in the series, and each one came with its own nifty clear plastic display case. I wouldn't classify them as "rare" (IMHO), but you don't usually see too many of them because most Modelers are into 1/25 or 1/24 scale, and didn't usually hang on to them. I still have some of them that I built as a kid back in the 70s. They were a popular item back then; more of a curiosity now.
ChrisBcritter Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) They pop up now and then on eBay; here's an incomplete kit that combined with yours would make a whole one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-M764-1936-Ford-Coupe-1-43-Mini-Kit-Unbuilt-in-Box-/360691841541?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item53fae8ba05 (I'd make him an offer of about 1/3 his price at the most! The last several ones sold went for $5-$10. Edited October 30, 2013 by ChrisBcritter
hotrod59f100 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks I posted a pic in under glass .
Edsel-Dan Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 This one Is a bit of a rare one. It was last offered in the early 70's "Junior Collector Series" I have one I built back then. Mine was molded in white. I have the matching 48 Ford Coupe too. Some were re-issued in 70-80 during the Matchbox take over years, and 6 of the 1969's were re-issued in the early 90's. The entire list is in a thread in Car kit reviews.
ToyLvr Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 This thread took me on a trip down memory lane. I dug into my stash and found some of my original AMT 1/43 models (see attached). Note the plastic display cases, which were included in the kit.
Edsel-Dan Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) Should have done this too. Here are a FEW of mine: I only show 8 in that Pic. Notice the 36 in front of the 48!! Yes that Neon Green one IS an AMX!! I bought 2 lots of 3 builts I have Not yet taken pic's of. I will try to do so tomorrow and upload them, but rain is forecast. Til then, Here are the ebay pic's. Lot 1; Gold Custom Camaro, Lime Gold 68 Firebirs 400 & Purple Custom 66/7 GTO Lot 2; Blue 69 Mustang (Yes with a RED painted interior!!), Green Custom 67 Mustang, and Custom 63-67 era Vette (Unpainted). And Yes, I got the 6 Show cases!! I have a second Unpainted of the Custom Camaro, and several Matchbox era built's I can add to the pic's list. The Matchbox kits did Not have chrome parts. The parts were there, Just Not plated!! Of those, I have the 69 Chevelle, Camaro & Mustang, 68 Firebird, 57 Chevy. I have to find them to check!!!! Edited October 31, 2013 by Edsel-Dan
