Austin T Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 What kit can I find these corvette rallies in or do I have to go aftermarket?
Craig Irwin Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Those center caps were never used on any Corvette, or any other Chevy with those wheels. That S-10 owner has used something else that fit those wheels. You might try the bare Rally wheels with exposed lug nuts from the AMT 72 Corvette kit and add your own center caps.
Longbox55 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 The wheel itself is not a really anything unusual, it's the regular 5 slot Corvette Rally, which was also found on Chevelle/Camaro/Nova/Full size Chevrolet with the disk brake option (GM even listed it as the "disk brake wheel" for anything other than Corvettes). The only difference is the centercap, which most wheel companies call a "police" cap. I have not found any proof that those caps were ever an actual factory peice, but more a fabrication of the aftermarket. Best way I can think of to make those would be to use a Corvette Rally, preferably with a separate center cap, in whatever size suits tire you're using, then swap the center cap for a smoothie cap from another source, perhaps the old tool AMT '32 Ford.
rmvw guy Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Upholstery nails for the hubcaps, pick them up from Lowes.
RadialDragon Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Upholstery nails for the hubcaps, pick them up from Lowes. This is what I immediately thought of.. +1
Toner283 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 The AMT/Ertl 1969 Chevelle kit has the corvette style rally wheels in it with seperate center caps. The wheels are bare styrene and the caps are chrome. Pretty much every other kit that I can think of that has the corvette style rallys has the center cap molded as part of the wheel, not as a seperate piece. Not to say it hasn't been done, I just can't think of any that I have seen other than the 69 Chevelle.
