kendog261 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Any Idea how I can build hinges like this or a place to get some? I have no idea how to make the coiled part and actually hold open the hood???
randx0 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Detail Master , Aber and M.A.S. all make photo etch hood hinge kits. you may have to mix and match . I can't think of a way to get the look and function with necessary strength in 1/25th scale. The detail master nascar hood hinge set maybe a good starting point for no other reason than seeing how it works. Good Luck .
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) You could conceivably make springs that look like that from old watch parts...specifically, the hairsprings on escape wheels (visible partially hidden here) but you wouldn't probably be able to get them to hold the hood open. If however, you riveted the hinge links together quite tightly (yes, you can get rivets that small), the friction in the linkage could be sufficient to hold the hood open. Very delicate work it would be. Edited November 17, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
