Frank Steffens Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 At the tender age of 35, I'm starting to lose it...I'm building a '65 Malibu Z-16, and I can't remember what kit has the correct "swirled" shocks for the rear. I KNOW I've seen them in another kit before, but I can't remember where. Does anyone know of a kit source for them? I just spent two hours searching through the stash and can't find them. Any ideas? (I really am losing my memory...I used to be able to memorize just about anything just by looking at it, now I can't remember the names of people I used to work withfor years! Kind of embarrassing when I run into them and have to say "Hey, what's up buddy?"!)
jbwelda Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 by "swirled", do you mean shock absorbers molded with coil springs over them? if so im afraid i dont know where specifically to get them, but seems to me the old AMT kits used them a lot. what i am really replying for though is to mention its real easy to make coil-over springs by taking correct gauge wire and coiling it around a paintbrush handle or something cylindrical like that. perfect coil spring are easy to make, then just super glue them over your shocks or if you want it more detailed build some little shock perches for them to mount on.
novadose71 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I just looked at my stock AMT '62 Pontiac Catalina SD, it has "spiral shocks" on it, these look correct.
lordairgtar Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I think what he wants to know is where to find the shocks that have a spiraled designed stamped into the metal cylinder itself. I don't know what kit has those but you could scribe your own spiral on the regular plain shocks.
Guest roadkill2525 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 The R-M '69 Camaro has a nice set of spiral shocks.
