The Creative Explorer Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 If I can find the kit, I will be joining with a '67 Camaro Baha-style.
knarf Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) This kit will decimate all, after you put about $100 or more and if we have to, overnight parts from Japan! thank you carl Edited December 21, 2013 by knarf
chevyfever2009 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Does anyone know where to find the wheels off of the daytona
o-man Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Have gotten started on Road Runner. This is the real car I'm using as "inspiration".. Car is called the Hammer. I have seen two versions of this car. One that has a blown 440 and one with a normally aspirated Hemi. One that has a black Hemi hockey stick on rear quarters and one without. I'm using the newer release Monogram kit. Kit comes with a 440, but I picked up a hemi for it. Still trying to make it look "right". Appears to be a amalgamation from several kits; even has the DOHC heads. I sanded down the mold lines on the rear quarters and closed off the hood scoop. Will be using a set of Pegasus Vantage wheels so I removed the stubs from front and rear axles. May have to remove some material from mounting point of wheel to get under the fenders. Body in primer. Not sure if you can tell from picture but I will need to use more gap filler on two small parts around scoop plate on hood. Painted Duplicolor Honda Galaxy Gray. Four coats and polished with pads up to 8k Edited December 24, 2013 by o-man
o-man Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Sorry post is screwy but this forum wont even let me edit for some reason!!!! I've gone in to compatibility mode and still nothing! Maybe tomorrow.
freakshow12 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Could you not bash the Enzo with the FXX transkit that is out there ? Costly but do able
The Creative Explorer Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 There is also a FXX modelkit from Tamiya
o-man Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Ok, lets see if laptop and forum will speak nicely to each other. Continuation of previous post about Hammer Road Runner. Body after polish. After several coats of clear. Body hit with polish and center of hood painted flat black. Used a silver Sharpie for the window and grille trim. Wheels before and after spokes painted black. Kit comes with a bench seat instead of bucket like real car. Don't have any extra buckets so I improvised. Picture of real interior. This car shows it without a center console, but I've seen pictures of it with one. I think that is one of many differences between the real and movie car. Both cars come with custom gauge cluster; left this stock. Still unsure if I will leave the seats two tone or paint them the lighter color; opinions?
The Creative Explorer Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I would darken the insides more. From the picture it seems they are very close to black
o-man Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Small update. Got interior assembled. Got Hemi assembled. Not sure what kit this came from, picked it up on eBay. Painted block assembly MM Aluminum. Valve covers stripped of chrome and painted MM Steel. Headers are Tamiya Metallic Gray and trans is Tamiya Gunmetal. Didn't worry too much on carb since it will be covered by air cleaner assembly. Last, head and taillight panels. There is a Plymouth decal for rear panel, but I think I'm going to leave script body color.
o-man Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Ready to go under glass. If it isn't too cold and windy tomorrow, I'll wipe it down and get better pictures.
brodie_83 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Looks good! I got my nitrous tanks in the mail finally, so now I can start on my Nissan Skyline R34 "2F2F prelude" build. Might start it this weekend!
TFchronos Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Very nice Oscar, my Skyline finally arrived yesterday so I'll be getting pics of it up within the next day or so.
o-man Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Kit went together decently. Biggest problem was getting the body and chassis to sit down. Also has an ill fitting hood like its bowed up on rear corners. Used a silver Sharpie for the trim. The build of the real car says it was finished in a satin chrome. Brakes are from a Fujimi wheel set with Wilwood decals from Slixx.
chevyfever2009 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm still waiting for my daytona to get here I think ot is lost in the high desert
Austin T Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I'm still waiting for my daytona to get here I think ot is lost in the high desert I know how you feel. My box shipped on December 5th, it arrived stateside on December 19th. No sign of the package yet and I don't get tracking since it's from Japan. Probably being held by customs with suspicion of it being a bomb or something.
TFchronos Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 The Roadrunner looks beautiful Oscar, congrats on being the first one to finish a build too.
TFchronos Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Alright here's my kits starting point. And If possible I would also like to try to do Dom's 70' Charger also from Fast Five. Thought it might be nice to have them sitting together.
Skydime Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I've built the Skyline. It's a nice build but, the instructions are horrible in any language. Be careful not to leave that suicide hood hinge out...it's a pain to go back and add.
TFchronos Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Thanks for the heads up Ken, much appreciated.
