Hammerdown Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I am currently building my 7th digital replica for a customer, similar to the ones pictured in my photobucket. After taking photos of the 1:1 truck, I scale the photos then cut out all the various pieces of the body and mount them to bulkheads attached to a plastic chassis. the finished product being a 3-D digital replica. Most of the models have either Fiber Optic or LED lighting. http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/bobgillespie/library/?sort=3&page=1
kilrathy10 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 That's an amazing way of producing a model....They look, surprisingly, real.....Very nice....Never seen anything like that, before....
olsbooks Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Clever! I am heavy a combo "paper/plastic" project right now on some upholstery work. You put some ideas in my head to try...dangerous thing. What do you use for adhesives and paper if you are willing to share. Thanks for posting!
Edsel-Dan Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Interesting take on the Paper Model method!! I too build Paper models, And Do have a few that are Photo prints for greater detail using a plastic frame, I would wonder if there was a way to print the photos on Evergreen sheet styrene!!!! Especially the Body parts!!
olsbooks Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 What about those "wraps" being used on so many trucks and busses now? That just popped into mind but that could bring some real interesting things into the mix. Dont know anything about it other than it is thin, can be fit around most anything and is unlimited in terms of graphics potential.
