DriftingRookie Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Doing this for the model car show in February . Since the theme is trucks this is what I'm going to enter, so enough jabber and let's take a look at what I'm doing. The kit, The bed, The cab, The color is Rust-Oleum Metallic Charcoal. More updates to come.
inskeep123 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Nice start. Are you going to build it stock or custom?
DriftingRookie Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Well box stock, don't have the funds to go all out with it the way I wanted to
kobuzz Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I need to get one of those kits. Your truck looks like my 1:1 truck.
PappyD340 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 NICE start Ashley, I like the color, I have been looking at that paint at Walmart, just haven't picked any up yet, I like the Rustoleum paints I have used alot of them with great success!! Keep it going!
DriftingRookie Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Thank you, will be doing more updates today as I'm back at the bench. The bed is about to get a wet sanding, the cab is drying from shooting clear on it. Interior is painted just need to do some minor detailing on Wed t, so stay tuned
Skydime Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) I really need to get back on mine but, I honestly don't have enough time away from work and "life" to work on it. Always a joy to see this kit built. Please give us some more pics. Edited December 3, 2013 by Skydime
DriftingRookie Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Sorry but I haven't been on the bench lately, work and personal life has gotten in the way
DriftingRookie Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Got some time on the bench. The interior The engine as it sits,
DriftingRookie Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Will be back on this tonight, just wanted to finish my 64 Impala which I will be posting in under glass section later tonight if i can get the mobile Photobucket to work.
Nate Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 The pics are kinda hard to see. If you have a desk lamp or something to add some more light the photos would be earlier to see.
DriftingRookie Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 I do have a lamp I will be using. Between work and being sick, I haven't had much build time. Hoping to get some in this weekend.
DriftingRookie Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 got some build time on the bench, having issues with the side glass going in, but here is where I'm at.
Greg Cullinan Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Looks good. Like the wheels. I'm about ready to give up on glass. Going to order some micro Krystal clear and give that a shot.
DriftingRookie Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 let me know, the glass is annoying going in. there are smudges through them. I'm at the point of smoking them to hide the glue marks
plasticdrag Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Looks good. I really like that grey metallic color and the wheels are awesome!
Skydime Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Get some Elmer's clear school glue for your windows. It dries clear and if you use too much, you can remove it easily. Plus it's extremely cheap insurance against destroyed windows. Edited January 10, 2014 by Skydime
DriftingRookie Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 I got the rear window in without smudge marks, just used a little bit of tamiya thin cement. Started to smoke Windows. pics coming soon
slusher Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Great color and wheels. I still use testors orange tube glue for everything..
DriftingRookie Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 that is hard to control but if it works for you then. That's good
Skydime Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Great color and wheels. I still use testors orange tube glue for everything.. Carl, if a person knows how to do it just right, I find it amazing what all you can do with that stuff. And from the looks of your models, obviously, you know how to manipulate it quite well. On topic Ashley, do you have a straight on shot of that front end painted? It looks pretty good from what I can see from the side. Edited January 17, 2014 by Skydime

Skydime Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 That's pretty nice. I'll drag mine out soon. I found an old bottle of Testors gold for my bowtie the other day.
