If it's chrome worn off by rubbing (rather than a scratch or gouge) then you might get away without stripping the chrome but you'd still need to put on a gloss black coat of paint and you'd lose a little more detail.

Yep, your best bet is to strip the chrome with some bleach or Super Clean, so you can clean the part up, get rid of any seams or sink marks while are often an issue with plated parts. Then Alclad your brains out.

Ok, i had a feelong that wpuld be the answer. I will pop in the bleach. Might as well do the rear fender so rhey match.
