how to remove bare-metal with out hearting paint

I use plastic toothpics, i cut the tip off with an xacto. Then scrape,and if the edge get soften i just cut again. In my experience so far,the toothpick will not damage the paint even if you intended for it to do so,because it deforms when you add to much pressure.

Masking tape should pull it right off..
