markymarkr1 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I have a 32 ford and the paint is Terrible. How can I strip it off and restart the paint job
disabled modeler Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Mark...get you a tupperware tub for the long brick style cheese and put brake fluid in it just enough to cover the body...wait overnight(sometimes longer. Once the paint is starting to come off GENTLY rub with the bristles of an old or new tooth brush you will never use again for yourself...be careful here...it may take awhile a little at a time so you do not break anything(chrome parts are a no no here). Repeat as necessary...once cleaned of all paint wash with warm water rubbing it down with lotion free soap...let air dry.
markymarkr1 Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks ill give this a try! I really appriciate it
disabled modeler Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Thanks ill give this a try! I really appriciate it Mark...if the paint is fairly fresh it might come off quicker and easier...just have patients with it and it will work...its just not for resins or chromed parts. Guest Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Simple Green works very well too, and is far less caustic, process is the same, soak it for a few days, depending on how frsh the paint is. You may have to scrub a little with a brush. You can use Simple Green on chrome too, plus it will not hurt plastic, I have had parts soaking for months, no ill effects.
Deathgoblin Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Depending on the paint, Brake fluid may not cut it. I had a lacquer painted Jaguar that I ended up using 91% alcohol on to strip. It took it down to the bare plastic, though.
