Hey guys...Revell's new 30 Ford Woody looks like its in stock in a few places...I'm considering getting one and I just want to know what comes with it? I know the new version has new wheels and a Deuce grill shell, but whats there from previous versions? Can anyone scan a copy of a older issues instruction sheet? Lastly, some pics I've seen of the 31 Woody released some years back looks like it shares alot with the 31 Model A sedan(which is similar to the 29 Model A truck), is the 31 and 30 Woody the same kit? and is it on par with the other "A" variants offered by revell?

Thanks in advance for any info guys!

Gray,

Yes, the '31 Woody shares many parts with the Sedan of the same year. The kit contains all the stock pieces needed to build it up either "bone stock" or mild street machine with a two carb manifold, cam cover and OHV Ansen conversion head. Some versions of the 1931 Revell kits share the very same chrome tree but a 1930 should be a different mold. The grill and hood are slightly different eventho the wood should be the same for both kits.

I have not seen this kit released lately so I am unsure of what is on the chrome tree. However, I suspect the layout of the chrome tree is just as similar as are the '29 and '31.

The just-reissued '30 Woody kit Gray was referring to is the old Monogram 1/24 scale kit. It shares no tooling whatsoever with the Revell '31 kits, which are 1/25.

When it was last issued in the SSP program, the '30 kit had a SBC with a six-deuce intake and perhaps the best set of Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels that has ever been seen in plastic. I sure hope those wires are still in the kit!

Thanks Ken, Thats the info I was looking for...I may still get it, but I was kinda hoping for the one based on the 31 tooling. How is it so far as detail? is it similar to other monogram 1/24ths of the era when much was simplified?

It's pretty much done off the older Monogram '30 Model A kits, but with a street rod only chassis. It's also quite accurate in the body department--those wood blank off panels make it into the ultra-rare Model A Station Wagon Delivery (yes, that was a factory option!).

It can be combined with the other Monogram Model A kits, to make a stock version, but for absolute correctness, one does need at least the right front fender from an original edition '30 Coupe/Cabriolet, for the side mounted spare (station wagons used that as standard, on the left side, right side optional).

I have the yellow box art SSP version, but may have to get the new one for the wheels and Duece grille...neat changes. In the past, I was never much of a vintage hot rod kit builder, but they've grown on me lately...

I actually just seen this kit online the other day, and was surprised to see all the cool new changes. I really like the wheels, but don't care for the tires they made 'em for, but they will look good with some nice rubber big n littles!! I also like the new deuce grill, and dropped headlight bar. The highlight of this kit is the 6 deuce carbs & manifold..."almost" worth the price of the kit!!
