Last night Amy & myself went out to Blackthorn 51's on Queens Blvd. to see our friends band tears it up. Great night out….great show. ^_^

Tonight I'm off to go see Stone Sour at Irving Plaza in Manhattan. This is Corey Taylor's project outside of Slipknot and they are probably one of THE best acts out there now. Hit YouTube and check out Bother or Say You'll Haunt Me. Nothing like Slipknot, but every bit as talented. Corey is an amazing vocalist….. :)

Then tomorrow night we're off to The Paramont in Huntington Village on Long Island to see In This Moment & Butcher Babies, female fronted metal acts. I heard Butcher Babies stole the show at Mayhem Festival last summer, and I saw In This Moment open for Stone Sour last year. Tomorrow night we'll let the ladies do the damage. B)

Man… is it possible to overdose on music? I'm gonna give it a shot!

No overdose on music, but I used to listen to music that was loud enough to "feel" it. Also hammering on sheet metal duct work for 30+ years and listening to nitro engines both at the strip and drag boat races, I believe are the cause of my tinnitus. So keep that in mind.

stone sour has been around a while, really polar opposite of Slipknot, kind of like having the best of both worlds. don't listen too much of either, love metal, just not a screamer/grunter type of guy. I know talent when I hear it and he certainly had me fooled when he came out with stone sour. sings a little in some slipknot songs. and it's always nice to see talented women fronting a metal band....

so.................

how was it, or are you still recuperating?

OMG…. what a weekend! My friends band Friday was a nice surprise as they've gotten very good.

Sat:

Stolen Babies opened: The girl singer reminded me of Danielle from American Pickers. And she was dress just as funky, playing an electric ACCORDIAN through effects along with a drummer, a sequencer, and a guy alternating from guitar & bass. Very out-there….

Pop Evil came on second. While well polished, they were OK. High-light was when rapper DMX hopped on stage and sang on one song.

Stone Sour: Yes, they aren't Slipknot, but Corey Taylor….. what a singer/showman. I've seen the 3 times in the last year.

Sun:

We missed the very first band @ 6:00, but the next 4 acts were good. All Hail The Yetti sounded like Black Label Society and looked like Zak Wild wannabes.

Devour the Day was incredible. Great songs and energy.

Butcher Babies: Google them…. aside from being drop-dead beautiful, they ROCKED. HARD!!!!!!!!!!!

In This Moment had a hard time following Butcher Babies…. very drawn out with set changes and too much theatrics, but put on great show.

If you don't even like heavy music, the 2 front women from Butcher Babies are worth the ogle on Google….. B)
