Flight 758 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Right now I'm building two Revelle snap 359's. I have the frame cut, stretched and ready for an extended hood but I can't find one. I tried to make one, but that didn't turn out too well. Does anyone still make them? Also, is there still a way to get the Mo'luminum air cleaners?
Mr mopar Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) You can get the air cleaners off Ben here is the web site . http://bwicke9.wix.com/class-a-resin as far as the hood goes P&P resin works use to make one . if this helps out. Edited January 22, 2014 by Mr mopar
Q tip Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 don't waste you money, I just done one, look at "revel 359 ext. hood" its pretty easy to do. figure out how long you want to go, glue a piece of sheet stock under the hood to the rear, then start on either side and glue and clamp. when that section has set then move up and around the top of the hood in the same fashion. for the molding and ribbing on the sides and top I used tiny square rod....it works .....john
Flight 758 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 What I was thinking about doing is resting one side on the cowl, then the other side on the front of the kit hood where the grill snaps in, heat it and mold it around. I have the sides of the hood done, I just need to figure out a way to do the top of the hood with the curve being the same all the way down and not flattened in the center. It looks like you extended the stock hood? Wouldn't it be too wide at the cowl or does it really matter because of how narrow 359s are to begin with?
Q tip Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 yes I did use the stock hood and by doing it like I did made it fit with no problems, what I forgot to mention was I made the ext. by getting the basic shape by warming in boiling water and bending around a bolt with the same curve. didn't worry about the length off the sides because they can be trimed. then glue as explained. all worked from one piece. sorry about that missing link......john
Flight 758 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Do you by any chance know what the size of the bolt was?
Old Albion Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Eric at P & P does the 359 extended hood for the AMT T500. Its based on a 1972 model.
vincen47 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I can't find the ext. hood 359 on P&P's website. Maybe he doesn't have it listed. They make a 379 conversion in 1/25 scale for the Revell 359's.
Old Albion Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 The hood is not listed yet. Send Eric an E-mail to check.
