Casey Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I acquired this 1/12 scale Firestone 9.00/15.50-15 tire as a single, and and hoping someone can positively identify which kit(s) it may have originally been included inside. I'm assuming at this point it came from a kit, but it may not have. It is made of a very flexible rubber-like material, is hollow, and my guess is it came from a Japanese kit. The wheel opening is perfectly (within .006") sized for a 15" 1/12 scale wheel to fit inside, so the sidewall size is accurate. The tire on the right in both images is the tire I'm trying to ID:
Brett Barrow Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Looks like a Tamiya F1 tire. Forget which ones had Firestones. Ferrari 312B or Lotus 49, perhaps?
Casey Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 I think it might be this Lola, as it's one of only two which appear to include treaded Firestone tires:
Erik Smith Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 It's like Harry's game, but with a tire... I think your tire on the left looks like the Lola tire - I couldn't find any that looked just like the mystery tire. Tamiya did have some 1:12 tire packs with rain tires, but I couldn't positively ID that exact tire.
Jim3 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) I just ran across this one in the picture...not shure of 1:1 size.. Also a guy on e bay has 6 pair of the size on the left with the tread pattern on the right but say Good year they are under 1/12 on there if you are lookin for tires too ? Casey Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I purchased a set of the 1/12 Tamiya front Goodyears from mdlmrk on eBay and received them today, and they're a bit smaller than I hoped, but have nice tread detail. I might buy the rear Goodyears and size them up, too. Thanks for the help so far, guys.
