darquewanderer Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 The tip on producing realistic welds in scale was great. But I have to wonder why you'd replicate a weld on a model of a fiberglass car???
jbwelda Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 oh man that is SO classic!!! i didnt even connect that when i saw the tip! oh theres gonna be some red faces in the "mea culpa" department next month! seriously though i am laughing with you not at you, G&J but you gotta admit thats one for the books! kinda like leaving the "l" out of "public"!!!
jbwelda Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 but wait... how do you know thats not a metal *replica* of a corvette??? hey im trying for you guys...
Jairus Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 It was simply a donor body guys. Plastic is plastic....
jbwelda Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 so thats kinda like ending a story with: "and then i woke up and realized it had all been a dream" just admit it: youre so busted!
Jairus Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 so thats kinda like ending a story with: "and then i woke up and realized it had all been a dream" just admit it: youre so busted! You think I don't know that a '53 Vette is a fiberglass car? Is that what you are inferring? I just didn't want to use something I actually WANTED TO KEEP having a weld across the body just for a "How-to".... it's that simple. Busted? Okay, I'm busted... take me away....
ismaelg Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Jairus is right. That was a Tom Daniel's Vetteagin body, which is BASED on a Corvette but Tom used thin steel to make that body over a wodden buck he patterned. That's my story and I'll stick with it. It's not about lying, but lying convincingly Thanks,
Harry P. Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 It's not about lying, but lying convincingly Thanks, Do you work for the government?
Paul Payne Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Do you remember the Monogram metal body series? One was a 1953 Corvette- with a metal body. Now let's just lead poor Jairus back to his workbench and let him continue doing great things for our hobby........

And the cool thing about that kit was all the metal parts on the real car were plastic in the kit. The only thing close to being the right material was the tires!
