eferrari Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I wanted to have a Dean Moon Tank behind the radiator on an approved square bar. This would be plumbed to the fuel cell. Surely I want to make it as accurate as possible. I did do some searching. One owner who does not use a computer told me you just plumb them together, somehow that doesn't seem to be right, yes? Any help would be appreciated. Ron
eferrari Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Paul, Thanks for the speedy reply. Here's the link of the '32 Ford of Gary Stock that I discussed in my first post. I called Gary on Sunday because the email was no good. Gary sold the car in 2001. He told me he doesn't do anything on the computer. He is a experienced drag racer, that built-up a beautiful machine. I am just tryng to locate a diagram to pumb what Gary has done. Ron www.batauto.com/articles/lilduece.shtml Edited February 11, 2014 by eferrari
kylexgore Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hi Ron, maybe reaching out to Gary would be your best bet. His phone number and email is included in the article. I am sure he would give you exactly what you're looking for.
6bblbird Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 There is no reason why you could not run a line from a rear mounted fuel cell, through an electric pump, to the tank in the front. I believe that the Moon tank on this car is mainly for a nostalgic look and is not really necessary. Here is how I would plumb it. Rear mounted fuel cell to inline filter and electric fuel pump. Electric pump to Moon tank. Moon tank now supplies engine driven, mechanical pump. Mechanical pump to barrel valve. Return line would run from barrel valve, back to the top of the moon tank or back to the fuel cell. Hope this makes sense. WF
6bblbird Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The Ramchargers had a setup like this on their '65 AWB car. According to the book We Were the Ramchargers the electric pump kept the Moon tank always full and somewhat pressurized which avoided starvation upon acceleration. Also helped ease initial start up. Force Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) I would also do it as Walter describes. Many drag cars has the fuel cell or tank in front nowadays to get help from gravity to feed the engine. Edited February 12, 2014 by Force
