f1ford48 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Does anyone have a photo of one of the finished wooden kits ? I find them very interesting. theres 2 on the OLD 16 thread. and more on the stutz thread.
Sixties Sam Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Harry's kit reminds me of the old rubber powered free flight model airplanes I built many years ago. They had all the wing ribs, bulkheads, tail surface parts, etc. printed on a sheet of balsa and you had to cut them out with a hobby knife. You got a bundle of sticks to make all the fuselage stringers, wing spars, etc. then had to assemble them carefully. Brushing on dope and applying tissue covering was a PITA, too, and they often didn't fly very well. Plastic model cars were so much easier and more satisfying to me back then. Sam
f1ford48 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 BEAUTIFUL work on the Mercer- if the 2 were real the Mercer would be noticibly smaller.
Harry P. Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 BEAUTIFUL work on the Mercer- if the 2 were real the Mercer would be noticibly smaller. As a point of reference, the wheelbase of the two kits in the photo is identical. Anyone have the 1:1 wheelbases?
f1ford48 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 as far as I know the Mercer is- 108 and the stutz -120 to see the difference in the size of the cars check out youtube... ''Mercer Stutz'' and see em side by side in action.
