jaydar Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I am doing a motorcycle cowling with red over blue separated by a white wedge-shaped decal. Intuitively, i would make a masking tape duplicate of the decal and apply over a gloss white base coat. Spray each color then replace the tape with the decal. I am concerned that the decal will be recessed???? Suggestions? Prayers? Joe.
cobraman Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Maybe I'm not understanding but can't you put the decal on last ?
jaydar Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) you could but the decal is blue (not white as i said earlier) and not totally opaque. I don't want the red and white to show through. additionally i need to know where the color dividing line is so the decal will cover. I should have included the picture below. cobraman Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 From the photo it doesn't look like the red would be a problem because the blue is spaced away from the red. The decal should ( I would think ) be ok on the white. If not you may have to see if you can get another decal sheet and put one over the other. That would work but could be costly.
jaydar Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks Cobra guy: Now that i look closer, I think you are right. I just need to replicate the curves on the tank and seat fairing. The decal goes over the white. If there is a problem with some bleed through at least it will be uniform on all panels. Thanks for helping me see this. Joe.
