I painted my mach in Tamiya brilliant orange and after a day and a half I am not super happy with it. I am afraid if I hit it again it will react. What is the recoat window on this stuff?

paint it...its not gonna hurt it. I have done it anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 days after original coat and no worries. its Tamiya man...that's what ya pay the big bucks for!

The only concern with a recoat window when using Tamiya paint has been when their TS-13 clear was used over the color coat-it tended to crack if applied at the wrong time due to different cure rates from the color coats.Since TS-13 isn't available in the U.S.A. anymore this has ceased to be a concern unless someone has some left over cans of it.

From personal experience with Tamiya paint I'll add that if another color coat is added a bit too soon it tends to kill the gloss a little bit.But that's fixable with polishing.

I have never had the Tamiya clear crack up over any other paint, but I generally let my bodies dry out for a good while, like at least a week, and that's in relatively dry California, before I clear coat them. and even then I generally color sand at least the big flat areas and I think that might help too. so I suppose if you don't let the color gas out before applying your clear you might have a problem.

TS13 is no longer available in the USA? wow, that's kinda painful. I wonder if its "forever" or just being "reformulated" like the primer was?

I took the plunge and applied 2 more coats. Went on fine. Much happier with the result. Have not used this paint much so didn't realize it settles down a lot as it dries. Look foreword to showing the result in my twister special wip
