Superpeterbilt
I found a cool page that had tons of photos from the truck races. It inspired me to start converting a few old built ups, into some race trucks.I eventually want to build a section of track and have about 20 or 30 trucks in racing position. Ive always loved the beginning of Smokey and the Bandit 2 with the race sequence. I have 3 trucks Im working on now. I started the 359 first. I moved the tank behind the cab, built a cage around it, chopped the bumper, shortened the fenders, moved the luberfiner behind the cab, cut out the grill screen, mounted the 5th wheel rigid to the frame. My next one will be a Kenworth W925 tortion bar truck. Im moving the cab back and making it a long hood.Pretty much same mods as the 359. Up next is a K123 daycab. I thought to myself, If I was going to race a Cabover at over 100mph what mods would I make? I decided that I would move the engine as far back as I could for better weight distribution (this is actually what led to me rebuilding my Ertl drag truck and then the Peter Plane) There will be more to come!! Superpeterbilt
I did some decal work on #33. I have a lttle paint touch up to do. I removed the V8 from the truck to replace it with either a Cat V8 or a cummins. So theres no powerplant at the moment, but Im calling it 85% done. The door numbers are a little crude on purpose. I wanted them to look handpainted.

Superpeterbilt
The coolest thing was that crash in 1979 by Kenny Farmer from Alabama who rode out that KW crash. Thats a man right there! I plan on reproducing that in scale. It just might take a few KW's. I plan on building a track with about 20 of these trucks on it eventually. Petetrucker07
Now that would be a sight to see. A scale version of the old truck races. If you build it, we will drool
Pim
nice models mate here's a picture of the aussie race trucks
Superpeterbilt
I got a little further along with the KW. I added some superboss exhaust, and shortened the rollbar. I cut a hole in the hood and moved the air intake to the firewall. I added the rear wheels from the paystar kit, and fronts from the Autocar A64B kit. On the front wheels I ground the rim back where the ring mounts about .050" because the rim doesnt stick out past the ring enough. I have corrected a set of these to cast. This truck is going to be #60 and will be orange and white.I think thats it for now.
Old Buckaroo
Wow, these are so cool. I would pay admission to see a scale track and 20 or so of these trucks ! Could you imagine how sweet a Detroit V series would sound with a set of pipes like hat ?
Petetrucker07
Id be right in line behind sean, payin to see it. I can only dream of how the v8 and v12 detroits sound with straight short exhaust. I heard an old euclid quarry truck with no muffler, it had a v12 in it. It wad just music to my ears, a screamin buzzin dozen at the top of its lungs. Great progress terry

Superpeterbilt
My next two planned will be a Diamond Reo and a GMC 9500 longhood. Then plenty more Petes and KW's. Edited January 10, 2015 by Superpeterbilt

Superpeterbilt
Man I welcome everyone to add to this build and post pics. If anyone is inspired by this, by all means please add to it. This is as much a part of truck history as anything else. And these trucks are too cool not to build!
