Jon Geddes
I'm thinking of building up one of these as a tow rig for my beat up Bel Air once I finish it. I'll probably ditch the plow and paint it up to look like an M1008 CUCV, like this If anyone's got pics of one completed or in the works, post em up. pharoah
Is it like the Fall Guy truck? I have the reissue of it,but haven't built it yet.
BIG NICKY
i didn't have any issues with this kit it went together great.
Jon Geddes
Thanks for the info, guys. And Nicky, that green looks killer! You did a mighty fine job for a "first attempt"
Fabrux
This kit is 1:24 scale and originally a Monogram; the Fall Guy kit is 1:25 and originally MPC. Aside from low detail in key areas, the only major issue with this kit is the rear cab wall. As designed, it is very difficult to get the interior in with the cab wall in place. Waiting to glue in the cab wall after paint during final assembly would leave a highly visible seam.
Jon Geddes
Looking around at the pictures on my computer and I found this picture. I still have the body, but all the other pieces got taken for other projects. This body might go good on a plow truck chassis.
Jon Geddes
Actually tempted to get the Revell GMC tow truck kit as well to put the '65 Chevy cab on. Then, I'd have the tow truck's beefy front brush guard to make the plow truck look more like an M1008
Fabrux
That bumper guard would look a wee bit small on the plow truck. I'll take a picture tomorrow for you so you can see.
Jon Geddes
That'd be helpful, thanks!
Fabrux
Okay, so this is actually a Blazer standing in for the GMC but it is the same kit from the B pillar forward (just like the real trucks...). The bumper is actually in scale for 1:24 as well!
Jon Geddes
Thanks for posting that. Looks like that bumper would definitely need to be modified a bit to look right
BIG NICKY
the only major issue with this kit is the rear cab wall. As designed, it is very difficult to get the interior in with the cab wall in place. Waiting to glue in the cab wall after paint during final assembly would leave a highly visible seam. ill second this. you have to glue the cab together before priming. but i assembled the bed after paint and it made it easier to wet sand and buff out
