mnwildpunk Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I was wondering has anybody tried to do a vinyl graphics wrap much like they do on 1:1 cars. I was wondering if it is a viable option for a funny car model I'm thinking of doing. It would be based off my work logo
Scale-Master Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 It might come out looking a bit thick. The larger the scale the better the chances of it looking good. Also heat is used (like decal solvent) to get the vinyl to conform. Heat and a plastic body could be at odds with each other.A lot of it depends on the design.
jwrass Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Scale Master is right on!!! I do wraps at my shop and on something that small I just don't see it! However not is all lost I cut masks for my Custom Painting and the material I use is very thin and made for the process known as cut, peel and blow. your artwork would have to be in a Vector format to cut on a plotter. Any Sign Shop could cut this for you if you bring them the files. jwrass
mnwildpunk Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 I didn't realize they used heat to conform the vinyl to the contours so I now see the dilemma thank you both for the quick response and ideas to further my project in a better way
cobraman Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I have been thinking of trying some hydro graphics but can not find anything in scale.
