David Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I ordered a couple of SOHC engines and Hilborn injector hats in May, 2007. Emails to their website to check status in July and August went unanswered until early September when Randy replied that I should have received them by now. When I replied that nothing had been received and asked if the shipment could be tracked, he replied that he would send again and to let him know if I ever received the first order. I emailed again in late September to ask for a delivery estimate, no response. I emailed again in November requesting an update and including a pdf copy of my original order, no response. I haven’t received any parts to date. Perry’s website is still up, and there are some other parts I had considered ordering but naturally I am not going to proceed until my first order is resolved. I would appreciate any information about the status of Perry’s Resin Replicas that any one can provide. Thank you
Ayatollah Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I have been hearing this more about him lately. My last order was 2 yrs ago..... they used to take about 10 weeks to fill an order and sent out a great casting. I was very happy with him but haven't ordered for about 2 yrs. I won't order anyting else until this clears up.
fury3 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 This is interesting. A little over a month ago, I posted a reply to a topic on the "other forum" recommending a new member purchase a kit or component (forget what it actually was) from ANOTHER caster that carried what he wanted....instead of "Perry's. Randy Frost (Perry Resin operator/owner, I believe) sent me a personal e-mail at once being rather upset about my reply, and as to why I would post a statement about him like that. (FYI The topic and reply at question was not a current post either (?).) I simply replied that I had read many other topics and replies as of late about long delays concerning getting orders filled....that were written and composed by HIS clients. I also commented that I had actually never been a client of his because of this, and also because much of his product did not interest me. He quicky replied again, and did seem to aknowledge my reasoning, and the delayed/unfilled orders situation. That's where it was left. Is he working to rectify the situation? Unknown. What I find interesting is that he did contact "ME" at once about my reply, but yet seems to have problems with communicating with his clients as quickly. We all must remember however, that many of these caster do this as a "side" or second job. Actually, I only know of two that are full time ("Modelhaus" and "Model Car World" (MCW)...there may be more. Still, there is no excuse for someone offering a service and accepting orders that can not communicate with their clients. Even if the order is/was delayed, most of us could accept that IF we were notified in a regular and timely manner. Just my thoughts or two cents worth, LOL! Fury3
Ariel Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Actually, I only know of two that are full time ("Modelhaus" and "Model Car World" (MCW)... Don't forget Replicas N Miniatures, HRM, JimmyFlinstone. I believe Randy's time has been consumed by his hobbyshop the can take away all your time being. The last time I purchased from him was in his last appearence to the NNL East. Wish his Ferrari 333 sp was still available. With the plastic model companies either vanishing or just not producing. Except for Revell. We need for our cottage industry to get stronger. Ariel
Canada Jeff Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Uh oh... I don't like the sounds of this. I have an open order with Perry's that should be coming due in a few weeks (order placed November 20th, allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery like they say, add another few weeks to that for Christmas break and mail slow-downs). I was anticipating the delivery towards the end of this month or early next. I guess I'll keep watching the mail and see how it develops. Jeez -- I had heard good things about them before, I hope everything's OK.

I simply wanted to point out his reaction to the topic at the "other forum". I have not heard of orders not being filled...just very slow in BEING filled, and no communication with the clients of the unexpected delays. I had hoped that since my e-mail exchange with him and his very prompt reaction and speed to the topic/reply, that communications had improved since. I understand and was aware of the hobby shop endevor (nice website!), but that still should not interfere with a simple and courteous note to his clients/customers to keep them abreast of progress and or delays. Thank you Randy contacted me after I posted to confirm my address and I have received all of the parts I ordered. They are the nicest resin parts I have ever seen. I am sorry to learn that small parts and tires will no longer be available through Perry’s web site or mail order. See the web site for changes at Perry’s.
