drummerdad Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I would pay maybe $75 for a kit I wanted. If its a super detailed kit, like some of the Pocher motorcycles, I might pay $250. I guess thats why I dont have one. I would pay good money for some 1/8 scale wheels and tires, (realistic drag tires, not RC stuff that looks like RC stuff). Its like looking for unicorn feathers.
heinz74 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 depends on how good the kit is..the amount of detail..i've been looking at the newer Pochers..like the Testarossa ,the Porsche 911 (993?)..in 1/8 scale..but they really are not up to standardmore like an oversized 1/18 cheap diecast model..no detailing whatsoever..,and because of the simple design ..(over)detailing them yourself wouldn't look rightif Revellogram would release a 1/8 scale kit again..like the E type or 65 Vette..with the same amount of detail like those kits back then ...as in no opening doors ,simple engine and chassisi would pay 75-100 euro's max for it..if they would do a buildable Tamiyakind type o kit ..with opening doors ,trunk ,great detail ,the whole 9 yards..i would pay double ,perhaps even more..its gotta be worth it...being a big kit doesn't just cut it anymore..maybe in the 60'-70's..but not now..take a look at some of the better 1/18 diecast models out there..put a boxstock Monogram 1/8 65 Vette next to one..doesn't look right ..i can tell you
Jordan White Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 if Revellogram would release a 1/8 scale kit again..like the E type or 65 Vette..with the same amount of detail like those kits back then ...as in no opening doors ,simple engine and chassisi would pay 75-100 euro's max for it..It does appear that Revell of Germany will be rereleasing the 1/8 1965 Corvette sometime this year actually, though I have no clue on price yet.
heinz74 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 It does appear that Revell of Germany will be rereleasing the 1/8 1965 Corvette sometime this year actually, though I have no clue on price yet.Yeah...i read about that..sort of the same thing they did with the 57 Bel Air ,69 Z28 ..it was issued over here molded in black also (don't know statewise)..i just finished the 2600 kit .the early one in red..which was nothing more then a box full of plastic junk when i got it..so i don't see me building another..if any manufacturer out there would do something in big scale..please give us another muscle car ..like a '67 GT500..68-9 Charger R/T,Pontiac GTO (Judge)or reissue the 1/8 scale Firebird or the Iroc Z Camaro ..any kind of 'iconic' US car would be nice..Eurocars ...well i wouldn't let a BMW 2002 Turbo ,M635i,M535i,or even the E30 M3 , Mercedes G wagen AMG in 1/12 scale..slip awayor a proper 911 ..be it the 930 or the latter 993....so much choice out there..,although it obviously has to appeal to a large crowd...a Morris Marina in big scale would not be a salesucces.. i guess..also it would need to appeal on both shores ,considering that building plastic models isn't as big over here as in the Us..(Diecast/resin is much bigger)it 'll be something that's known cinema-tv wise..or it's not gonna cut it over here..making it even more costly..we got the 2010 Mustang gt500 by Revell Germany...and i wonder how many they sold..can't be more than a couple of 100..(if they even did)
Jordan White Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) I really wish that Revell would make a 1/12 Cuda of some sort, maybe even based off their new 1970 kit tooling. Edited February 18, 2016 by Jordan White
heinz74 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) Hemi Cuda i hope... well anything different then all the Rolls Royces ,Bugatti's and Ferarri's from the past.. more a car you guys can relate to..as in 'man! i drove one of those in highschool..,i should have kept it'... well...with a little effort..you can build something out of it.. if only Revell or whoever might just go the extra mile..in the detail department..
